The official version of the 2002.0 package release is now available. Differences between this and the beta release are primarily bug fixes, with a few minor extra features too. For full details please see the 2002.0 release notes.
We will shortly be sending out new licences to all academics with 2001.0 licences, but you are welcome to try it now and to manually fill out the licence web form as normal. Note that if you use the 2002.0 beta releases then you will need to upgrade to the official release. We are not issuing upgrade licences that extend the lifetime of the beta release.
Removed the 'gap4 viewer and trev' distribution. This is now out of date, but the main Staden Package release now contains an unlicenced (i.e. free) copy of Trev and Gap4 works as a databases viewer when unlicenced too.
We have prepared a beta-test release of the 2002.0 package. This has a builtin licence to work until the end of the year, by which time we official release will be available.
The most important changes in this release have been improvements in the automatic mutation detection and the visualisation of these within the contig editor. For more information on this aspect of the package please see the mutation detection web page.
For a full list of changes, please read the release notes. The new version can be downloaded by following the links of the downloads page.
Due to changes in the LMB firewall configuration some users are experiencing problems with anonymous FTP access. A solution for this is being worked on, but we the download page has now been updated to allow both ftp and http methods of downloading files. HTTP downloads can be problematic in some browsers, displaying the downloaded file as a document instead of asking where to save it to disk. However most, if not all, browsers support an "save page to file" method which should overcome this. (We cannot give support on how to do this though.)
An alpha-test release of a MacOS X version of the Staden Package is now available for download. This version has a global licence which expires on April 16th. We will make a new test release before then (with an extended licence date). For further information see downloads for further information.
