To create a new gap4 database select the "New" command from the File menu. This
brings up a dialogue prompting the the new filename. Type the name of
the database to create without specifying the version number. To
create version 0 of a database named `FRED' typing FRED will
create the two database files, `FRED.0' and `FRED.0.aux'.
If the database already exists you will be asked whether you wish to overwrite it. Any database that was already open will be closed before the new database is created. The new database is then opened, ready for input.
Note that Gap4 database names are case sensitive.
